Healthy Gut Nut-Flour-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

There’s nothing else like it… hot, gooey, chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven.

(Hey, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to enjoy a cookie cutter occasionally! After all, yummy food is just one of life’s best joys )

Even when you’re following a healthy gut, grain-free diet such as SCD or paleo, you shouldn’t have to give the occasional cookiecutter.

But here’s the issue: a lot of gut-healthy, grain-free recipes depend way a lot on a single ingredient which might be holding you back out of healing: nut noodles.

The Problem With Nut Flours

Many grain-free baking recipes use nut flours like almond as a substitute for conventional wheat flour or fermented flours like rice.

But, nut flours can be really tricky for anyone who have a compromised gut to digest. They cause difficulties for a lot of individuals that we call nuts among those “4 Horsemen of SCD.”

Nut flours are also high in Omega-6 fats. For optimum health, -6 fats and also Omega-3 will have to be balanced within the body. This may not be a problem for you if you are eating a great deal of fats such as fish. But the majority of people today eat far than they do Omega-3.

(For much more on healthful fats, test out this. )

If you have tried other grain-free baked products and not tolerated them well, it could be because of nut flours. And not and if you are eating a lot of nut flour seeing progress you might want to consider cutting back onto it.

Enter Coconut Flour

Coconut flour is my preferred nut-free, grain-free flour to bake with. It’s gluten free, grain-free and.

In case you don’t endure nut-flour, or just want to stop eating a lot nut bread, coconut flour might be your new go-to.

Coconut flour is quite absorbent, although – it’s just like a sponge and will suck up lots of liquid. Coconut flour has generated a reputation as being hard to work with and dry.

While it’s true a nut-flour baked great is usually more moist than a coconut-flour baked good, you are still able to create a terrific cookie using coconut bread (I’ve eaten LOTS of biscuits that prove it) .

Trust your intuition when you are baking using coconut milk – in case your cookie dough is too dry, you can always cut it using a little more fat or liquid.

Let’s Talk About Chocolate

At SCD Lifestyle, we are all about discovering the most customized diet which works for you.

Meaning some members of our community eat chocolate, but others prevent it.

If you’re strictly following the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, chocolate is deemed illegal. (Carob is illegal on SCD, also – but it might be OK if you are after AIP or a different gut healing diet.)

If you are including chocolate, choose a high quality dark or semi-sweet chocolate. I utilize Enjoy Life allergen-friendly chocolate chips.

For people who avoid chocolate, various other options are dried fruit like raisins, unsweetened flake olive , or carob chips. If you do tolerate nuts, then you might also add some nuts into the dough.

Oryou can perform like that I occasionally do and include a bit extra cinnamon and skip the chips completely!

Remember, you are the boss of your own diet. As you want to suit your body, make substitutions. I’ve included substitutes and hints in the recipe as a beginning point.

(Have you been stuck on a restricted diet, not able to present more foods? That Could be a sign of leaky gut.)

One For Me Today, One For Me Later

As with absolutely any meals, biscuits – even healthy intestine cookies – should be consumed in moderation. Plus, these biscuits are better fresh from the oven. That’s why I advise freezing and portioning the dough.

Once dough has been constructed, scoop into balls (forming round balls with your hands will result in the prettiest cookies). Freeze on cookie sheet for 30 minutes, then move frozen dough balls and keep frozen for a sexy , fresh cookie anytime.

This healthy intestine cookie recipe is exactly the one I use when I have a cookie craving. Whether or not you would like to go through the joy of baking together with your children, or simply need a special day snack, I hope you like it.
